NanoShunt Technology for Direct Dispersion and Disposal of CSF in Hydrocephalus Patients


NanoShunt concept is a paradigm shift in the treatment of Hydrocephalus from current VP Shunt using tunneling shunt tubes to direct dispersion method. The tube embedding through the neck to the delivery location is completely avoided. A miniaturized atomizer is implanted to drain the CSF liquid and atomize it. The atomized ultrafine mist then disperses and evaporates at body temperature (37 C) and the vapors transported and subsequently get absorbed in rich capillary bed and also diffuse through skin-scalp and is disposed of as perspiration. After NanoShunt technology is in the medical marketplace it will improve the patients' lives, without the complications due to the embedded tube inside the body.
